Overview

ADHD in women is frequently overlooked or mischaracterized, particularly in adolescents and adults who present with anxiety, depression, burnout, perfectionism, or chronic self-doubt rather than overt hyperactivity. Many women move through therapy and medical systems for years without recognition of the attentional, cognitive, and regulatory patterns shaping their lives.

This one-hour training introduces the concept of the Invisible ADHD Profile in women. Participants explore why traditional diagnostic narratives often fail to capture female presentations and how masking, social expectations, relational load, and internalized coping strategies can complicate identification.

You will examine common misdiagnoses, late-identified trajectories, and the emotional and functional consequences of being unseen or misunderstood. The course also addresses how ADHD in women can intersect with giftedness, sensitivity, and trauma histories, and why accurate conceptualization matters for treatment, self-understanding, and long-term well-being.

Benefits of this training

After completing the course, you will be better prepared to:

  • Recognize common patterns of ADHD presentation in women beyond stereotypes

  • Understand how masking and social expectations can complicate identification

  • Differentiate ADHD-related patterns from common misdiagnoses such as anxiety or depression

  • Understand late-identified trajectories and their emotional and functional impact

  • Consider how giftedness, sensitivity, and trauma histories may intersect with ADHD presentation

  • Support clearer treatment planning, self-understanding, and longer-term well-being
